Tomato Dal

Here is one more dazzling dal recipe- A basic and beginners favourite in Indian cooking. Infact this was the first thing that i learnt to cook :). Tomato dal is simple and flavourful main course dish.



Ingredients

1 cup toor dal
2 cups water
2 ripe tomato
2  green chillies 
2 tbs tamarind pulp
2 pods of garlic
1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
curry leaves
1 whole red chilly
1 tbs red chilly powder
1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
salt to taste. 

Step 1 : Cut the tomatoes into chunks, slit the green chillies and keep it aside.


Step 2 : Soak the toor dal for 2 hrs . Later take a cooker add the dal and 2 cups of water in it. When water comes to boil add the tomatoes , green chilies, turmeric powder, tamarind pulp and salt in it. Then close the lid of the cooker.


Step 3 : After 2 whistle put off the gas.

Step 4 : For seasoning heat oil, later add mustard seeds ,curry leaves, whole red chilly, garlic and red chilly powder in it.

Step 5 : Mix this in dal , keep the dal on low flame for 10 Min's. Keep stirring in between.

Step 6 : Serve it with plain rice or roti
